The Ultimate NIU NQiX Series Guide: Everything You Need to Know
The NIU NQiX Series is our most ambitious lineup to date. Under the mantra "The Original, Reimagined," the NQiX-Series takes the DNA that made the NQi Sport and NQi GTS iconic and elevates it with new technology, sharper design, and smarter connectivity across every model. Whether you're drawn to the accessible NQiX 150 or the boundary-pushing NQiX 500, there is a version of this scooter engineered for your riding life.
This guide covers the full NQiX family including its standout features, performance figures, battery architecture, smart connectivity, storage, model differences, and who each variant suits best.

Special Features
The NQiX Series is defined by a set of features that go well beyond the basics. For the full-list of features, check out our NQiX-Series Youtube Playlist for the full list of features here. We've compiled some of our favorite features below:
App and Bluetooth Pairing: Every NQiX connects to the NIU app via Bluetooth. Once paired, you get real-time diagnostics, battery status, range estimates, GPS tracking, ride history, and remote vehicle monitoring, all from your phone. Setup is straightforward and the connection is persistent, so your scooter is always reporting back to your smartphone.
Onboard Navigation: Set a destination in the NIU app and turn-by-turn Google Maps directions appear directly on the 5" TFT Full Color Display. The NQiX 500 have offered this for a generation; the 2026 NQiX-Series update brings it to the NQiX 300 and NQiX 150 as well, making it a series-wide standard.
NIU Link Crown Handlebar Controller: The Crown controller sits on the handlebar and lets you navigate menus, switch ride modes, manage music playback, and adjust settings without taking your hands off the bars. It is the central interface between rider and scooter, and it makes the connected features genuinely usable in motion.
Pick Up Call and Vehicle Speaker Mode: Incoming calls are surfaced directly on the TFT display and answered via the handlebar controller. The vehicle speaker mode routes audio through the scooter itself — useful for navigation prompts and hands-free conversation without needing earphones.
Custom Riding Mode: Beyond the standard Comfort, Dynamic, and Sport modes, the NQiX Series allows riders to build a personalised mode with adjustable throttle response, acceleration character, and torque delivery. Set it once and it lives in your profile. This level of granular customisation is unusual at this price point.
Ultra Boost: Ultra Boost is a short-duration maximum-power mode that unleashes the full output of the motor for overtaking or rapid acceleration when you need it. On the NQiX 500 that means the full 9900 W peak on demand. It is activated deliberately, not something that fires accidentally, and adds a genuinely performance-oriented dimension to urban riding.
ABS and Traction Control (TCS): ABS is standard across the NQiX 500 and NQiX 300 2026 versions. TCS works alongside it, detecting wheelspin under acceleration and redistributing torque to maintain grip. On wet urban roads, the everyday reality for most European commuters, both systems are doing meaningful work.
AutoHold: Activated automatically on inclines, AutoHold prevents the scooter from rolling backwards when stationary and applies smooth, controlled acceleration from a standstill. It is a small feature that makes a real difference in hilly city riding, no more clutch-style footwork at traffic lights on a gradient.
Cruise Control: Cruise Control locks your current speed and holds it without continued throttle input. Activate it on a clear stretch and it maintains pace precisely, useful on longer urban arterials or light roads where a consistent speed is both more comfortable and more efficient.
Battery Installation and Removable Pack Design: All NQiX batteries are designed to be removed and reinstalled by the rider without tools. Carry one or both into an apartment, office, or café to charge without any fixed infrastructure. The system is designed to be intuitive, slides in, clicks home, and the BMS immediately recognises both packs and begins managed charging.
Password Unlock: Beyond the standard key fob and app unlock, the NQiX Series supports a PIN-based password unlock directly from the dashboard. If your phone is dead and your key is elsewhere, you are not stranded.
Open Trunk via App or Display: The underseat storage can be opened remotely through the NIU app or directly from the TFT display. No need to use a physical key or reach for a latch. Practical when your hands are full.
Lap Timer: For performance-oriented riders, the built-in lap timer logs session times and stores them in ride history via the app. It reflects the NQiX Series' ambition to serve riders who care about their riding data, not just commuters.
GPS Tracking and Anti-Theft: GPS is active whenever the scooter is powered, and the NIU app logs location history and provides real-time tracking. In the event of unauthorised movement, you get an alert. It is a meaningful theft deterrent and recovery tool built into every model at no additional cost.

Performance and Specs
The NQiX Series covers a wide performance range across its four models, with the 2026 NQiX-Series introducing targeted refinements over 2025 NQiX-Series.
The NQiX 150 is an L1e-category scooter operating in 25 or 45 km/h modes. The updated 2026 version raises peak power from 2,900 W to 3,000 W and adds onboard navigation that was not present in 2025.
The NQiX 300 produces 3,600 W peak power and reaches 80 km/h. The most significant change in 2026 is the upgrade from CBS braking to full ABS with TCS, a genuine safety step, alongside the addition of onboard navigation.
The NQiX 500 delivers 9,900 W peak power, 240 Nm of torque, and a 100 km/h top speed, placing it in L3e territory. NQiX-500 2026 edition maintains the same powertrain as MY25 while adding onboard navigation, refined ABS/TCS calibration, and the NIU Link Crown interface as standard.
Across all models, the 5" TFT Full Color Display and NIU Link Crown handlebar controller are now standard.
Battery and Range
The removable dual-battery architecture is central to the NQiX Series' practicality. The NQiX 500 and NQiX 300 run two 72V 28Ah packs; all batteries can be removed and charged independently without fixed infrastructure.
The NQiX 150 delivers 75 km on a single battery, extendable to 150 km in the dual-battery version (a new option in 2026). The NQiX 300 achieves 110–120 km in everyday riding. The NQiX 500 delivers 95–100 km across its two packs.
Cell chemistry differs between models. The NQiX 500 uses NCM+LMFP pouch cells — higher energy density, enhanced thermal stability, and extended cycle life. The NQiX 300 and NQiX 150 use NCM+LMO cylindrical cells in the large-format 34145 size, which simplifies thermal management and offers durable, cost-effective performance appropriate to these models.
All packs feature a 14-point Battery Management System covering overcurrent, overcharge, over-discharge, short circuit, temperature, and voltage anomalies. Every pack is EU-certified and waterproof.

Storage and Practicality
The NQiX Series seat is 15.5% longer than the NQi GTS — stretching from 600 mm to 710 mm, with ergonomic shaping for rider and passenger comfort on longer trips. Underseat storage is 32 litres on the NQiX 300 and NQiX 150, 28.5 litres on the NQiX 500. The trunk opens remotely via the NIU app or dashboard — no physical key required.
Ground clearance of 170 mm across the 500, 300, and 150 keeps the NQiX confident on kerbs and uneven surfaces. The NQiX 500 weighs 128 kg wet (including batteries). AutoHold prevents rollback on hills and applies smooth acceleration from a standstill across the full series.
Model Comparison
The NQiX 150 is ideal for short urban commutes and riders who want the full NIU connected experience with a low licensing barrier. No motorcycle licence is required in most European markets.
The NQiX 300 is the everyday commuter's choice — the longest range in the mid-tier at 110–120 km, full ABS with TCS (new in 2026), onboard navigation, and the complete smart feature suite at a lower entry point than the 500.
The NQiX 500 is the sweet spot for riders who want highway capability alongside city agility. At 4,499 euros, it delivers a 100 km/h scooter with dual removable batteries, ABS, TCS, onboard navigation, a 5" TFT display, smart connectivity, and GPS tracking — a specification that would cost meaningfully more from many competitors (1000ps.com).
Summary
The NQiX Series offers a model at every step of the urban commuting journey, all sharing the same smart platform, the same connected ecosystem, and a decade of NIU engineering behind them. The features — from AutoHold and ABS to Ultra Boost, custom ride modes, cruise control, and seamless app integration — are what set it apart from comparably priced alternatives.
